Player Evaluations and Team Drafts
The Player Evaluation process is utilized to help ensure parity across teams and is used for the Junior, Senior, and Major leagues. Observers assign a score for each player for each skill – throwing, catching, and hitting. The scores are averaged for each player and utilized in the team draft. Please note: this process is NOT a tryout and attendance is not required to be placed on a team. Players should think of it as a practice, and just try their best.
Because Tee Ball is focused more on fundamentals and less on games (games are not scored), Tee Ball players do not participate in the Player Evaluation Process.
All registered players will be placed on a team. Teams are drafted within 8 – 10 days of the Player Evaluation night, depending on availability of the coaches for each league, and a member of the Board will be present at each draft to ensure draft rule adherence and consistency. If you have children in different leagues, you may hear from each head coach on a different day depending on when that league’s draft is held.
