HYBA submits teams into various summer league baseball tournaments. The
primary summer leagues are the Medway Tondorf,
Hopkinton Summer Sizzler
and Cooperstown tournament. Both the senior and major leagues (9,10,11 &
12 yr olds) (2) teams to the Tondorf and Sizzler tournaments, made up of
approximately (12) kids each. The Cooperstown team is the 12 yr old
Medway Tondorf team (see new rule
regarding Coperstown Team) unless a child/parent can't meet the commitment
demands of this tournament. If additional players need to be added, then
the head coach will select players consistent with the selection
criteria detailed in the All-Star Team Guidelines document. There
is a new registration fee ( and new shirts and hats) for those children
that participate. The all-star leagues run for about 6 weeks ( mid June
thru end of July ) with the kids either playing or practicing 4-5 times
per week. The Cooperstown team will play until the middle of August. We
play teams from many of the surrounding towns and even host a couple of
home games at Draper field. HYBA does not supply transportation to away
games.
Detailed information concerning the HYBA All Star team philosophy,
coaching guidelines, player eligibility and selection process can be
found in the All Star team guidelines document.

We stress that participation on all-star teams does represent a
commitment. The intent of these policies is to insure that we will
always be able to field a team during tournament play. Some towns have
lost the ability to participate in future tournaments when they
forfeited games due to a lack of players. We want to insure that future
teams from Hopedale do not lose the opportunity to participate in these
tournaments. In addition, this is a significant team experience and we
feel it is important that all players commit to their teammates that
they will be present at the culmination of tournament play. We have been
appreciative of the great consideration families put into the decision
to participate in these programs and realize that difficult decisions
must sometimes be made. Some families are unable, or decide not make
this commitment and those individual family decisions are to be
respected. It would be tremendously helpful in assembling teams if you
would notify your son or daughter's head coach, or a member of the
Board, if for any reason you decide that your son or daughter should not
be considered for one of these teams.
Thanks for your support and consideration on this important
matter...HYBA
